Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Arusha – Gateway to Northern Tanzania Safari
Welcome to Tanzania! Upon landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport, your Pita Safaris driver-guide will greet you with a warm smile and a cheerful karibu sana—Swahili for “you’re very welcome.” Begin your Northern Tanzania safari package with a scenic drive to Arusha, nestled beneath Mount Meru. Along the way, admire banana plantations, coffee estates, and lush red soils that characterize East Africa.
Check in at Kibo Palace Hotel, a midrange lodge offering ensuite rooms, a sparkling pool, and tropical gardens. Depending on your arrival time, you may explore Arusha’s bustling craft markets, sample world-famous Tanzanian coffee, or simply relax before your safari begins.
Travel Tip: Arrive early to enjoy Arusha’s hidden gems, cultural galleries, or authentic coffee tastings.
- Your Tanzania safari adventure officially begins tomorrow—rest well for the journey ahead.
Distance: ~55 km | ~1 hour drive

Day 2: Arusha National Park – Giraffes, Craters & Walking Safaris
After breakfast, set out for Arusha National Park, a lesser-known treasure at the foot of Mount Meru. Explore diverse landscapes—from the Ngurdoto Crater and montane forests to open savannahs and the shimmering Momella Lakes. Look out for giraffes, buffaloes, colobus monkeys, and flamingos.
For an intimate wildlife encounter, opt for a short walking safari with a park ranger—a unique opportunity to experience Tanzania’s wildlife on foot. Return to Kibo Palace Hotel in the evening for dinner and relaxation.
Safari Snapshot: Arusha National Park is the perfect soft introduction to Tanzania safaris, especially for birdwatchers and first-time visitors.
- Curious about walking safaris? Pita Safaris guides make it safe, informative, and unforgettable.
Distance: ~40 km | ~1 hour drive

Day 3: Tarangire National Park – Elephant Kingdom & Baobab Forests
After breakfast, head south to Tarangire National Park, famous for its giant elephant herds, ancient baobabs, and diverse wildlife. Your private 4x4 safari vehicle takes you through savannah plains, river valleys, and acacia woodlands. Spot lions, wildebeests, zebras, giraffes, and over 500 bird species.
After a picnic lunch inside the park, continue to Lake Burunge Tented Lodge, a tranquil retreat with lake views. Relax on your veranda, sip sundowners, and enjoy a hearty dinner under the African stars.
Photo Tip: Tarangire sunsets create dramatic silhouettes of elephants against baobabs—perfect for safari photography.
- Want a front-row seat to Tanzania’s elephant paradise? Tarangire delivers every time with Pita Safaris.
Distance: ~120 km | 2.5–3 hours drive

Day 4: Lake Manyara Safari – Rift Valley & Tree-Climbing Lions
After breakfast, travel to Lake Manyara National Park, a compact yet wildlife-rich gem. Discover its forests, savannahs, and alkaline lakeshores. Highlights include tree-climbing lions, pink flamingos, elephants, hippos, baboons, and more than 400 bird species.
In the evening, check in at Kirurumu Manyara Lodge, perched on the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Enjoy sweeping views and a magical sunset over Lake Manyara.
Travel Tip: Though small, Lake Manyara is packed with surprises—perfect for photographers and bird lovers.
- Looking for lions in trees? Manyara is one of the best places in East Africa to find them.
Distance: ~90 km | ~2 hours drive

Day 5: Ngorongoro Highlands – Walking Safari & Maasai Culture
This morning, enjoy a guided walking safari in the Lake Manyara ecosystem. Track giraffes, antelopes, and birds while learning about footprints, plants, and Maasai traditions.
After lunch, drive into the Ngorongoro Highlands, passing through volcanic landscapes and vibrant Maasai villages. Settle into Ang’ata Ngorongoro Camp, located near the crater rim. Breathe in the crisp highland air and enjoy panoramic views.
Did You Know? The Ngorongoro Highlands rise above 2,200m, offering cool climates and unique ecosystems.
- Sleep close to one of the world’s greatest natural wonders with Pita Safaris.
Distance: ~100 km | ~2 hours drive

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Safari – Big Five Finale & Departure

Enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor before ascending the rim and heading toward Kilimanjaro International Airport for your evening flight. Optional: book an extra night in Arusha if your schedule allows.
Safari Reflection: From walking beside giraffes to seeing rhinos in crater mist—you’ve experienced the very best of Northern Tanzania safaris.
