After breakfast, depart Arusha and drive towards Umbwe Gate, the starting point of your Kilimanjaro trek. After completing park registration and meeting your mountain crew, begin your ascent through the lush montane rainforest. The Umbwe Route immediately presents a challenging climb, with a steep and dramatic trail winding through dense vegetation and along narrow forest ridges.

As you gain elevation, the rainforest gradually changes and the mountain environment becomes more open. Your guide will establish a steady pace suited to the demanding terrain before you arrive at Umbwe Camp, where your crew will prepare your evening meal and camping accommodation.

After breakfast, continue your Umbwe Route Kilimanjaro trek as the trail becomes steeper and more exposed. The dense rainforest gives way to moorland and heath vegetation, while dramatic valleys and mountain ridges begin to open around you.

Continue towards Barranco Camp, situated beneath the imposing Barranco Wall. Along the way, you will experience one of the most dramatic transitions on Kilimanjaro, moving from the lower forest environment into the high mountain landscape.

After breakfast, begin one of the most memorable sections of your Mount Kilimanjaro climb with the ascent of the famous Barranco Wall. The trail involves scrambling and using your hands for balance in some sections, while your mountain crew provides guidance and support along the route.

After completing the wall, continue across a series of ridges and valleys towards Karanga Camp. The changing landscape provides spectacular views towards Kibo and Mawenzi, while the increasing altitude creates a distinctly high-mountain atmosphere.

Arrive at Karanga Camp and enjoy time to rest, hydrate and prepare for the final approach to Barafu Camp.

Arrive at Barafu Camp, where your mountain crew will prepare your meals and assist with final summit preparations. Your guide will provide a detailed briefing covering the midnight departure, pacing, hydration, altitude awareness and the route towards Uhuru Peak.

Enjoy an early dinner before resting as much as possible ahead of your summit attempt.

Continue towards Stella Point on the crater rim and, conditions permitting, proceed towards Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres, the highest point in Africa. Reach the summit around sunrise and take time to celebrate this remarkable achievement while enjoying panoramic views across the surrounding mountain landscape.

After the summit, begin the long descent through the alpine desert towards Mweka Camp, where you will spend the night and enjoy a well-earned rest.
