Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi – Gateway to Your Kenya Safari
Welcome to Kenya! Land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi, where a smiling Pita Safaris representative will greet you with a warm karibu sana—Swahili for “you’re very welcome.” Enjoy a smooth private transfer to Sarova Panafric Hotel, a midrange city oasis just minutes from Nairobi’s vibrant heart.
Check into your ensuite room, relax in tropical garden surroundings, or take a refreshing dip in the pool. Later, savor dinner at the Flame Tree Restaurant, where Kenyan flavors meet international cuisine. Your safari briefing will prepare you for the adventure ahead.
- Travel Tip: If you arrive early, explore Nairobi’s cultural gems like the Karen Blixen Museum or the Nairobi National Museum.
- Your African safari story starts here—rest well, tomorrow the wild calls.
Distance: ~18 km | Drive Time: ~30–40 minutes

Day 2: Nairobi to Masai Mara – Into the Great Rift Valley
After breakfast, meet your expert driver-guide and set off for the Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya’s crown jewel of safari destinations. The journey (~5–6 hours) takes you through the Great Rift Valley, stopping at panoramic viewpoints for breathtaking photos.
Arrive at Mara Sopa Lodge, set on the Oloolaimutia Hills, and enjoy a hearty lunch before your first game drive in the Masai Mara. This is Big Five territory—keep your eyes peeled for elephants, giraffes, lions, and perhaps the elusive leopard.
As the sun sets in golden hues, return to the lodge for dinner and stargazing under Africa’s vast night sky.
- Photography Tip: Sunset over the Mara’s acacia-dotted plains is pure magic—use a low ISO for rich colors.
- Ready for your first taste of the wild? The Mara never disappoints.
Distance: ~260 km | Drive Time: ~5–6 hours (with stops)

Day 3: Full Day in Masai Mara – Big Five & Migration Wonders
Wake to the sounds of nature and set off early for a full-day game drive in one of Africa’s most iconic reserves. Your chances of spotting the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino—are high here.
Between July and October, witness the Great Wildebeest Migration, as thousands of wildebeest and zebras cross the Mara River in a dramatic display of survival. Your guide will share fascinating insights into the park’s wildlife and ecosystem.
Enjoy a scenic bush picnic lunch before continuing your afternoon safari. Optional activities include a sunrise hot air balloon safari or a visit to a Maasai village for a cultural encounter.
- Safari Moment: Watching a lioness lead her cubs through the tall grass is a memory you’ll carry forever.
- Want to see the Mara at its most alive? Join during migration season for nature’s grandest show.

Day 4: Masai Mara to Nairobi – Farewell to the Savannah
Savor one last breakfast with sweeping views of the Mara plains before beginning your journey back to Nairobi. Travel once more through the Great Rift Valley, stopping for a picnic lunch en route.
Arrive in Nairobi in the late afternoon for your transfer to JKIA for your onward flight, or opt for an additional night at Sarova Panafric Hotel if your schedule allows.
- Safari Reflection: From the first game drive to the last golden sunset, the Mara’s magic stays with you long after you’ve left.
- Ready to return or bring friends next time? Let Pita Safaris craft your next adventure.
