Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi – Gateway to Kenya’s Wild Heart
Karibu Kenya! Touch down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), where your friendly Pita Safaris representative greets you with a warm smile and personalized welcome. Enjoy a smooth transfer to Sarova Panafric Hotel, a midrange retreat set amid lush gardens near the city center.
Check into your ensuite room, unwind on your private balcony, or take a refreshing dip in the outdoor pool. If time allows, treat yourself to dinner at the hotel’s Flame Tree Restaurant, known for its fusion of Kenyan and international flavors. This evening, meet your driver-guide for a safari briefing.
- Travel Tip: Arriving early? Nairobi National Museum and the city’s bustling craft markets offer the perfect cultural introduction.
- Tomorrow, the adventure begins—Africa’s Big Five await.

Day 2: Nairobi to Masai Mara – Rift Valley Vistas & First Game Drive
After breakfast, set out on a scenic journey (~280 km | 5–6 hours) to Masai Mara National Reserve. Pass through the Great Rift Valley, stopping at panoramic viewpoints to capture breathtaking landscapes. Arrive at Mara Sopa Lodge in time for lunch.
This afternoon, head out on your first game drive. Scan the plains for elephants, giraffes, lions, and—if luck is on your side—a leopard lounging in the acacia trees.
Return to your lodge, perched on the Oloolaimutia Hills, for dinner and stories around the fireplace.
- Photography Tip: The Mara’s golden hour casts magical light—perfect for dramatic silhouettes.
- Want the best seat in Kenya’s wildlife theatre? Pita Safaris takes you there.

Day 3: Masai Mara – Full-Day Big Five Adventure
Wake before sunrise for a morning game drive—the prime time for predator activity. Return for breakfast, then venture deep into the reserve for a full-day safari.
Between July and October, you might witness the Great Wildebeest Migration, a natural spectacle as millions of wildebeest and zebras cross the Mara River. Enjoy a bush picnic lunch under the shade of an acacia tree, with wildlife all around.
Optional experiences include a sunrise hot air balloon ride or a visit to a traditional Maasai village for cultural insight.
- Safari Moment: Falling asleep to the distant roar of lions under a star-filled sky.

Day 4: Masai Mara to Lake Nakuru – Flamingos & Rhino Encounters
After breakfast, leave the Mara behind and travel (~300 km | 6 hours) to Lake Nakuru National Park. Stop along the escarpment for a scenic picnic lunch before arriving at Lake Nakuru Lodge, set within the park.
Depending on your arrival time, take a short walk or spot wildlife from the lodge’s terrace. Nakuru is famed for its seasonal flamingos, endangered white and black rhinos, and the rare Rothschild’s giraffe.
- Did You Know? Lake Nakuru’s high alkaline waters once drew millions of flamingos, turning its shores pink.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru to Nairobi – Farewell to the Wild
Begin with a sunrise game drive—watch rhinos grazing, buffalo at the lake’s edge, or a leopard slipping through the euphorbia forest.
After breakfast, travel (~170 km | 3–4 hours) back to Nairobi, with lunch en route or on arrival. Your driver will drop you at JKIA for your onward flight, or arrange an optional extra night in Nairobi.
- Safari Reflection: From predator-rich savannahs to rhino-dotted lakeshores, you’ve experienced Kenya’s most iconic wildlife destinations in comfort and style.
